Coaching and Change Management

Those that truly carry the most influence in a Fire Department are those that are in leadership roles.  Those that have the most influence on other firefighters are those that are closest to the role of the Firefighter, the Lieutenant or Captain  

The fire service culture is deeply rooted in pride, strength, toughness, teamwork and life saving events and tragedies.
The fire service has traditions from rank in file to uniforms to firefighting tactics. 
Change is never easy especially for those that literally eat, sleep, and breathe their career.  When change is a must, the push back from those required to make that change can be volatile.
Many consider change a risk. Most people are emotional and uncomfortable with change based on biased for the unknown.  Most growth happens when you experience change. Seeking out the opportunity for change and reframing it as a chance to grow your department while safeguarding traditions will be important.
